I had the honor to sing a duet on a recording on which my friend is working.  Sarah McKamie is a dear friend of 15 years.  We sang together the first time we met…and we have been singing together ever since.  It’s one of the easiest things in the world…singing with Sarah.   Her personality is just as calming as her voice, and when we harmonize it’s hard to tell our voices apart.

Jonathan Golloher, the producer, sent me the mastered copy of this song at a time when I was wondering if music was worth the time, money and trouble.  As I listened to Sarah’s voice singing Holy Spirit,  I was reminded of how music can lift someone’s spirit….how it can prepare you for worship.   As the days of recording unfolded, Sarah heard her daughters singing in the back of the car.  They were singing in harmony…all by themselves!  No one had taught them this!  She told me her idea to have them sing the outro of the song.  Honestly, I didn’t really understand, until I heard the final recording.  As I listened to Sarah and I sing the lyrics,

“Let us become more aware of Your presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness”

It was then that I began to anticipate what I knew was going to happen later in the song.  I was very aware of His presence and His delight in the worship of children.  What else could express that better than to hear those girls voices in natural God-given harmony…welcoming the Holy Spirit.  That is the kind of faith we are called to have.  That may be the best example we have of true worship on this side of Heaven.

FUN FACT:  7 years ago, I have a picture of me holding Sarah’s new born daughter, Hannah, in the hospital.
And seven years later, I am writing a post about a song that little Hannah sang on herself.
